AS THE Indian diaspora in the US gear up for the arrival of prime minister Narendra Modi to the country on Tuesday (20), a fan of the leader in Maryland decided to flaunt an 'NMODI' number plate on his Honda Odyssey mini van and said the prime minister is an inspiration to him and he is eagerly waiting for him.
“I took this plate back in 2016, November. Narendra Modi is an inspiration to me. He inspires me to do something good for the nation, for society, for the world. PM Modi is coming here so I’m eagerly waiting to welcome him,” the owner, named Raghavendra, told Asian News International.
Modi had made a visit to the US in 2016 when he also addressed a joint session of the US Congress, something he would do during the upcoming visit as well to become the first Indian leader to achieve the feat.
According to Raghavendra, he originally wanted his car's number plate to be embossed with ‘NARENDRA MODI’ but authorities did not permit him because of the long text. He then requested for a number plate with title ‘NMODI’ and it was allowed.
His car bears the 'NMODI' number plates both on the front and rear side.
