Pakistan national arrested in New Delhi, arms recovered

THE special cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday (12) arrested a Pakistani national from the national capital’s Laxmi Nagar area and recovered arms and ammunition from him.
According to sources in the police, the man, identified as Mohammad Ashraf, is a resident of Pakistan’s Punjab province and was living in the Indian capital with the identification of an Indian national. Among the arms and ammunition that were recovered from him are one AK-47 assault rifle with one extra magazine and 60 rounds, one hand grenade and two sophisticated pistols with 50 rounds.

Relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosives Act, Arms Act and other provisions are being invoked against the man. The police conducted a raid at Ashraf’s current address at Ramesh Park area of Laxmi Nagar.

Indian forces neutralise three The Resistance Force members in J&K

Meanwhile, three members of The Resistance Front terror outfit were neutralised by Indian security forces in an encounter in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (12). Police sources said arms and ammunition and other incrimination materials were also found from their possession.

The elimination of the terror outfit members happened a day after five Indian soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were killed in a gunbattle with armed terrorists in a forested zone at Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday (11).

The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has become tense in the recent past as terrorists have targeted civilians from the minority sections, causing a number of deaths, including two government school teachers last week.
