Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5. The film will arrive in theaters just a day after Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and headlined by Yash.

Bandar marks Kashyap’s return to theaters following his 2025 release Nishaanchi. Known for films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Dev D, and Black Friday, Kashyap is recognized for his politically charged and character-driven storytelling, and the new film is expected to follow a similar tone.

Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film brings together a team known for projects such as Paatal Lok, Kohrra, and Udta Punjab.

In Bandar (Monkey In A Cage), Deol plays Sabar, a fading television star accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend and taken into judicial custody. The film had its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, where it screened in the Special Presentation category. This also marks the first collaboration between Deol and Kashyap as director and actor.

Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi and backed by Zee Studios, the film features an ensemble cast including Sanya Malhotra, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Sapna Pabbi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Riddhi Sen, Saba Azad, and Nagesh Bhosle.

Further details about the film’s narrative and release scale remain undisclosed.
