Jackky Bhagnani has described his marriage to Rakul Preet Singh as a 'situationship,' offering a candid perspective on their relationship. The couple spoke about their bond during a recent podcast appearance, where they explained that their marriage is built on honesty, comfort, and emotional independence.
The two actors, who met and fell in love during the COVID-19 pandemic, shared that they were already content as individuals before entering into marriage. They said their relationship has added to their happiness rather than becoming a source of it.
During a conversation with the YouTube channel Zingabad, Jackky explained that both he and Rakul had reached a stage in life where they were not looking for someone to fill a void. He emphasized that personal happiness was already established before they became partners.
“We told each other that we are not 20–21 years old anymore. We have both seen many ups and downs. Individually, I am a happy person. I am not looking for anyone to fill a void, because if I am a depressed person, no matter who comes into my life, I will be depressed. And individually, you are happy too. Together, we are happier,” he said.
Rakul Preet Singh echoed similar thoughts, stating that they do not depend on each other to meet emotional needs or expectations. She explained that their relationship allows both individuals to maintain independence while still being committed.
“It is not like, ‘You didn't take me for a holiday, so I am unhappy.' I can go on that holiday by myself. I think there are more important things in life to talk about,” she said.
Jackky further explained that despite being married, he views their relationship as a 'situationship,' while also clarifying that it remains exclusive. He described their dynamic as open and transparent, where communication plays a key role.
“Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other, because that’s why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything,” he said.
He also shared an example to highlight the level of openness in their relationship. Jackky said that if an ex-girlfriend were to call him while Rakul is present, he would answer the call on speaker. He explained that he keeps nothing hidden from his wife, which helps him feel comfortable and free in the relationship.
The couple dated for three years before getting married on February 21, 2024. Their wedding took place in Goa and was a private event attended only by close friends and family members.
As Rakul is Punjabi and Jackky is Sindhi, the couple held two ceremonies on the same day. They had an Anand Karaj ceremony in the afternoon, followed by a Sindhi wedding in the evening, reflecting both their cultural backgrounds.
Through their statements, Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh presented a relationship model centered on independence, openness, and mutual respect, while maintaining a committed and exclusive partnership.
