Rashmika Mandanna is set to take on one of the most unexpected roles of her career. The actor, who shared blockbuster success with Allu Arjun in the Pushpa films, will reportedly reunite with the superstar in director Atlee’s next big-budget project—but this time as the film’s main villain.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Rashmika chose the role after weighing offers from two major pan-India productions.
A source told the publication, "Rashmika had the choice to play the negative lead in either A6 or another big Pan India film. After hearing both the roles, the actress had to make a tough call but she decided to come on board Atlee's next, as the character allowed her the chance to explore the uncharted territories."
The role marks a significant departure for Rashmika, who is best known for playing romantic and emotionally driven characters. Her reported casting as the primary antagonist also changes the dynamic of her on-screen partnership with Allu Arjun, which became one of Indian cinema’s most popular pairings through the Pushpa franchise.
The report adds that Rashmika has already completed a look test for the film and is expected to begin shooting in October. She also reportedly traveled to Los Angeles with Atlee and Allu Arjun during the film’s pre-visualization process.
The source added, "Rashmika has paid a visit to LA with director Atlee and Allu Arjun. She was bowled over by the pre-viz for her character and is super excited to work with one of the biggest directors of modern era - Atlee. The antagonist turn for Rashmika in an Allu Arjun film is also a departure from their last two collaboration on Pushpa franchise."
The film is expected to feature several major stars, including Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur, and Janhvi Kapoor, with Rashmika reportedly sharing intense face-off sequences with the ensemble cast. Currently in production, Atlee’s ambitious project is slated for a 2027 theatrical release and is being positioned as one of the biggest pan-India films in development.
