Seattle brought together some of the most prominent Indian-origin technology leaders in the US for a forum centered on the future of India-US innovation ties, with Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella serving as the guest of honor.
Nadella addressed the “Ideas4India: Indian American Tech CEOs Forum | Unlocking the Tech Dividend” on Thursday (17), an event hosted by the Consulate General of India in Seattle. The gathering followed the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and focused on strengthening technology cooperation between the two countries.
Indian-American technology leaders gather in Seattle
The forum brought together more than 40 Indian-origin CEOs and CTOs from the Greater Seattle and Pacific Northwest technology ecosystem.
Representatives from companies and organizations including Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, OpenAI, Anthropic, Intel, Veeam Software, Helion, Zenoti and Viome Life Sciences participated in the discussions, according to the Indian Consulate's press release.
The event provided a platform for technology leaders with ties to both countries to exchange ideas on expanding the India-US technology partnership. The discussions covered a broad range of emerging and strategic areas, including artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centers, semiconductor design and manufacturing, quantum research, talent and skilling, aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
For the Indian-American technology community, the forum also highlighted the role of professionals who operate across both ecosystems and contribute to technology development, investment and research in India and the United States.
Nadella highlights AI's broad potential
Nadella spoke about the evolution of Seattle's technology community over the past 35 years and its changing relationship with India.
He also described artificial intelligence as a general-purpose technology, with its potential benefits depending on how broadly it is adopted across countries, communities and sectors, according to the Consulate's account of the event.
The discussion comes as AI becomes an increasingly important area of cooperation between India and the US. The forum's agenda extended beyond AI itself, covering technologies and industries that support the wider digital economy, from semiconductor manufacturing and quantum research to aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra also addressed the gathering and welcomed the participants' interest in strengthening bilateral technology ties. He reiterated India's commitment to an AI Mission centered on inclusivity, openness, sovereignty, broad access, safety and trust.
Major investments underline growing partnership
The discussions in Seattle took place against the backdrop of major technology investments by US companies in India.
The Consulate highlighted Microsoft's announcement of a $17.5 billion investment in India between 2026 and 2029. Amazon, meanwhile, has announced plans to invest $48 billion between 2026 and 2030, including expanding AWS data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The forum also emphasized the increasingly two-way nature of the technology relationship, with several participating companies maintaining substantial engineering, research or business operations in India.
The Consulate said “Ideas4India” is expected to continue as a platform for strengthening India-US technology cooperation under the India-US TRUST Initiative, including collaboration in AI, quantum technology, semiconductors, space, telecommunications and biotechnology.
The Seattle gathering therefore brought together corporate leaders, government representatives and technology experts around a common focus: expanding connections between two major innovation ecosystems while exploring how emerging technologies can support future cooperation.
