Tata Motors has launched the Sierra Dark Edition in India, bringing an all-black exterior and black-and-violet cabin treatment to six trims of the SUV.
The Sierra Dark Edition gets a Friesian Black exterior as standard, along with darkened Tata emblems, dark alloy wheels and black trim in place of many of the chrome elements.
The front fenders carry “#DARK” badging, adding to the special edition’s visual identity.
Inside, Tata has given the cabin an all-black treatment with Violet Eclipse detailing. Violet metallic accents appear around the AC vent bezels, door handles, front armrest and front seatbacks, while purple stitching adds contrast to the seats.
The Dark Edition does not introduce additional functional equipment over the corresponding standard Sierra variants. Depending on the trim, buyers can get a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, head-up display, triple-screen dashboard, Level 2 ADAS and a 12-speaker JBL sound system.
The SUV retains its three 1.5-liter engine options. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 106 PS and 145 Nm, while the direct-injection turbo petrol makes 160 PS and 255 Nm. The diesel engine develops 118 PS, with torque rated at 260 Nm with the manual transmission and 280 Nm with the automatic.
Transmission options vary by trim and engine and include a six-speed manual, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and six-speed torque-converter automatic.
The Dark Edition is available on the Pure L, Pure L (O), Pure+ L, Adventure+ L, Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims.
At the entry level, the Pure L Dark Edition carries a premium of around $230 over the standard version. Most other corresponding variants cost about $350 more, while the premium varies depending on the specific powertrain and trim.
The Accomplished+ Dark Edition reaches around $25,000, with the higher-end versions offering the same engine and transmission choices as their standard counterparts.
This means the Dark Edition is primarily a styling package rather than a mechanical upgrade. Buyers get the Friesian Black exterior, darkened alloys and badges, black-and-violet cabin and purple detailing while retaining the existing Sierra equipment and powertrain options.
The launch expands Tata Motors’ #DARK range to the Sierra, giving buyers the option of the blacked-out treatment across a wider portion of the SUV lineup rather than limiting it to a single top-spec version.
