- It was her first time seeing Kelce play since their summer wedding
- Swift skipped the 2026 Emmy Awards, choosing instead to return to the stadium where their romance began
Taylor Swift's latest appearance at Arrowhead Stadium carried a little more meaning than a typical night at an NFL game.
The pop superstar returned to the Kansas City Chiefs' home stadium on Monday to watch her husband, Travis Kelce, open the NFL season against the Denver Broncos.
It was the first time Swift had watched Kelce play since the couple got married over the summer, making her return to Arrowhead a full-circle moment in their relationship.
The place where it all began
Arrowhead Stadium is where Swift and Kelce's story first started to unfold.
Swift performed at the stadium before their romance began, and Kelce later revealed that he had tried to give her a friendship bracelet containing his phone number.
His attempt did not work at the time, but Kelce later invited Swift to watch him play after publicly expressing his interest in meeting her. Swift accepted the invitation and attended the Chiefs' game against the Chicago Bears in 2023. The pair's relationship grew from there, eventually leading to their wedding this summer.

Swift chooses the Chiefs over the Emmys
Swift could have been in Los Angeles for the 2026 Emmy Awards, where The Eras Tour: The Final Show had been nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).
However, the award had already been handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, with The Muppet Show winning the category.
Swift still made an appearance during the main ceremony through a pre-recorded comedy sketch featuring Law & Order: Special Victims Unit cast members and Emmy host Mariska Hargitay.
But rather than attend the ceremony in person, Swift was in Kansas City supporting Kelce.
Tom Cruise joins Swift at Arrowhead
Swift was also joined by actor Tom Cruise as she watched the Chiefs take on the Broncos.
Her appearance came during a busy period for the newlyweds. Kelce has been expanding his business interests during the offseason, including becoming a minority investor in the Cleveland Guardians.
The NFL star also faced questions about his future after the Chiefs finished last season with a 6-11 record.
Kelce ultimately decided to return for his 14th NFL season, while quarterback Patrick Mahomes recovered from a knee injury in time to start the new campaign.
For Swift, however, the significance of Monday night's game was much more personal. She was back at the stadium that played an important role in the beginning of her relationship with Kelce, this time watching him as his wife.
