Alia Bhatt has given fans a look at what she likes to order when she is staying at a hotel. During a recent interaction with Esquire India, the actor revealed that her room-service choices are a mix of familiar comfort food and classic Indian dishes.
Her simplest favorite is a hotel sandwich served with French fries. She also has a specific way of ordering it. She likes to add mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup to the meal.
“I really like hotel sandwiches. They come with French fries. And then I ask for mustard and mayo and ketchup. So the sandwiches are always nice, like different kind of sandwiches,” Alia said.
When she wants something more filling, Alia turns to Indian food. Her order includes dal makhani, rice and butter chicken. She also asks for achar, papad and raita.
“Dal makhani, rice, butter chicken, Achar, papad bhi dena sath mei Raita mat bhulna,” she added.
The order may sound familiar to Indian American readers who have spent time looking for comfort food while traveling. It is also a reminder that Alia's food choices are not limited to the lighter or health-focused meals often associated with celebrity diets.
Her love for simple comfort food goes back years
Alia has spoken about food preferences in several earlier interviews. In a Filmfare interview, she talked about her mother's cooking and said she especially enjoyed the pasta her mother prepared. She also mentioned pesto pasta with mushrooms and chicken, adding chili flakes and schezwan sauce.
Her earlier comments also showed that French fries were not a new favorite. She recalled making fries for friends and said she was not sure whether they liked them. In another Instagram food list shared in 2023, French fries were again among the foods she named as favorites. Other foods on that list included poha, dal chawal, bhindi, tamatar ki sabzi, tadka dahi and spaghetti.
Alia has also shown that she enjoys healthier options. In a cooking video, she prepared beetroot salad and chia pudding and spoke about her interest in nutritious food. At the same time, she admitted that she enjoys desserts, with moong dal halwa among her favorites.

More recently, Alia has continued to talk about her connection to Indian food while traveling internationally. During the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, she spoke about carrying makhana with her and highlighted foods such as dal chawal, homemade achar and sabzi as favorites.
That makes her latest hotel order especially relatable. One moment, she is happy with a sandwich, fries and a few sauces. When she wants a full Indian meal, she goes for dal makhani, rice and butter chicken with familiar sides.
