A year after the killing and chopping of a woman in her 20s allegedly by her male partner in Delhi left India shell shocked, another instance of a murder has come to the fore in the national capital and it is no less brutal. The accused has been arrested and was identified as Sahil.

In the latest instance, a teenage girl was stabbed more than 20 times and hit with a stone slab by a young man, allegedly her boyfriend, and it was caught on a nearby security camera with many passersby who did not come forward to save the victim. The incident  happened in Shahbad Dairy area of Rohini in north Delhi on Sunday (28).

The footage showed the 16-year-old becoming still but the frenzied attack didn’t stop. The killer then escaped from the spot and was arrested on Monday (29).

According to police, the duo were in a relationship and had a fight the previous evening.

ON Sunday evening, the man attacked the girl with a knife and stabbed her repeatedly. The weapon appeared to have got stuck at one point and the killer then shook it to loosen it. He then kicked the victim and picked up a stone slab and hit her more than once, the video showed. He appeared to walk off but came back to hit her with the rock once more.

The police said the girl was going to a birthday party when she was attacked. Officers later arrived on the spot to see the body lying in a pool of blood.

Reacting to the Swati Maliwal, chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women appealed to the Narendra Modi government to call an urgent meeting of the home minister, Delhi Police commissioner, Delhi lieutenant governor, chief minister and the commission.
