INDIAN prime minister Narendra Modi on Monday (27) met US president Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau at the G7 summit in Schloss Elmau in Germany and briefly spoke to them ahead of a group photography session.
Modi, who is in Germany on a two-day visit for the summit, was received by German chancellor Olaf Scholz upon his arrival at Schloss Elmau, the picturesque venue of the summit.

Biden was seen walking up to Modi and the duo exchanged pleasantries and shook hands warmly. It was the first meeting between Modi and Biden since they spoke in Japan in May during the Quad summit. The two leaders were also scheduled to meet next month for the I2U2 virtual summit of the quadrilateral economic forum that features, besides India and the US, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The Indian prime minister also interacted with his Canadian counterpart who was standing next to him for the group photo. The two prime ministers were scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting later on Monday.

Modi also met Macron and their bonhomie was on full display as they hugged and chatted briefly. They continued with their discussion and went inside the venue together.
“PM @narendramodi with @POTUS @JoeBiden, @President @EmmanuelMacron and PM @JustinTrudeau at the G-7 Summit in Germany,” the Indian prime minister’s office said on Twitter.
Modi also tweeted the group photo along with a caption that read: “At the G-7 Summit with world leaders”.
The German presidency has invited Argentina, India, Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa to the G7 summit.

“This will send out a powerful signal from Elmau – a common message from strong democracies that are aware of their global responsibilities. Our aim is to launch concrete initiatives and partnerships focusing on the climate and sustainable investments, improve food security worldwide, increase global health and make democracies more resilient,” an official statement from the host country said.
Modi was set to visit the UAE while returning home from Germany.
