Harry Potter fans have two new books to look forward to next year, but neither will put the Boy Who Lived at the center of the story.
Bloomsbury Publishing is expanding its Pocket Potters collection with two new releases focused on some of the most beloved characters from the Wizarding World. Pocket Potters: Fred and George and Pocket Potters: McGonagall are both scheduled to arrive in February 2027.
The new books are aimed at younger readers, but their focus on two fan-favorite parts of the Harry Potter universe could also make them appealing to longtime fans and collectors.
Fred and George Weasley get their own book
Pocket Potters: Fred and George, illustrated by Helen Brady, will explore the mischievous Weasley twins and their years at Hogwarts.
The book will cover their famous pranks and inventions, their ability to bend the school's rules and their eventual decision to leave Hogwarts before completing their education. It will also follow their journey to opening Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley.
Fans can expect references to some of the twins' best-known inventions, including Puking Pastilles and Extendable Ears, as well as the schemes that made Fred and George two of Hogwarts' most memorable troublemakers.
Professor McGonagall gets the spotlight
The second release, Pocket Potters: McGonagall, is illustrated by Natalie Smillie and focuses on the formidable Hogwarts professor.
The book will explore McGonagall's role as head of Gryffindor House, her talent for Transfiguration and her ability to transform into a tabby cat. It will also look at her relationships with Harry and other Hogwarts professors, along with her fierce loyalty to the school.
Her dry sense of humor will also feature as the book offers younger readers a closer look at the character behind the stern exterior.
The two new titles will join existing Pocket Potters books centered on Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore and Luna Lovegood.
Each book combines illustrations, quotes, story moments and facts from the Wizarding World in a format designed to introduce younger readers to the franchise.
The releases also arrive at a major moment for the franchise. HBO's new Harry Potter series is scheduled to premiere on December 25, bringing the Wizarding World back to screens with a new adaptation of the original books.
For fans returning to Hogwarts through the new series, the two February releases offer another way to revisit some of the characters who helped make the original Harry Potter story so memorable.
