India’s total Covid-19 cases at 30.13m, reports 393,310 deaths

INDIA reported on Friday (25) 51,667 new Covid-19 infections over the past 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed.

India’s total case tally now stands at 30,134,445 while the weekly positivity rate declined to three per cent, the ministry said.

The death toll climbed to 393,310 with 1,329 more people succumbing to the disease in a day.

The number of active cases has further declined to 612,868 and now comprises 2.03 per cent of the total infections. A net decline of 14,189 active cases has been recorded in a day, the data showed.

Currently, the case fatality rate stood at 1.31 per cent.  While the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.66 per cent, the weekly case positivity rate has come down to three per cent.

The daily positivity rate is at 2.98 per cent. It has been less than five per cent for 18 consecutive days.

India administered over six million vaccine doses in a day taking the cumulative number of jabs given so far under the nationwide inoculation drive to 30.8 million, according to the ministry.

Maharashtra (119,859), Karnataka (34,425), Tamil Nadu (31,901), Delhi (24,948), Uttar Pradesh (22,366), West Bengal (17,516) and Punjab (15,944) have reported the most number of Covid-19 deaths.
