Four members of an Indian-origin family in the United States, including a baby girl aged eight months, have been found dead in an orchard in California, the Press Trust of India has reported, quoting reports.

The family had been missing for many days.

Eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri was kidnapped along with her parents — Jasdeep Singh, 36, and Jasleen Kaur, 27, at a business in Merced County in northern California on Monday (3). The baby’s uncle, Amandeep Singh, 39, was also kidnapped, the county police said.

Merced County sheriff Vern Warnke said the bodies of the four were discovered on Wednesday (5) evening in an orchard near Indiana Road & Hutchinson Road. The police said a farm worker found the bodies and contacted the authorities.

“There are no words to describe the anger I feel,” Sherrif Warnke said during a press conference Wednesday evening, as quoted by PTI.

On Wednesday, the police released a video which showed the moment the family was abducted.

In the video, Jasdeep and Amandeep were seen coming out of the business with their hands tied. A few seconds later, the baby and her mother could be seen coming out of the building with the kidnapper.

All four were then led into a truck before it departed the scene.

On Tuesday (4), the police took a suspected kidnapper — 48-year-old Jesus Manuel Salgado — into custody, who according to the cops, tried to commit suicide. He is currently recovering at a hospital.

“There’s a special place in hell for this guy,” Warnke said about Salgado.

The Merced County police said that Salgado’s family spoke to the cops and reported that he has confessed to his crime.

Jasdeep’s parents — Dr Randhir Singh and Kirpal Kaur — are natives of Harsi Pind village in Tanda block of Hoshiarpur in the northern Indian state of Punjab.
