American singer, songwriter, and internet personality Oliver Tree died in a helicopter crash in Brazil on Sunday. He was 32 years old.

The accident happened over Rio de Janeiro when two helicopters collided in the air. According to local authorities, six people lost their lives in the crash.

After the collision, one of the helicopters fell into the parking lot of a car dealership. The crash sparked a large fire that destroyed about 20 vehicles. Videos shared by Brazilian media showed one helicopter falling from the sky, followed by flames and thick black smoke rising from the crash site.

The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro said emergency crews were called to the scene around 9:00 a.m. local time. Authorities have started an investigation to determine what caused the helicopters to collide.

Reports also said that Argentine content creator Gaspar Prim Diaz, known online as Gaspi, may have been on one of the helicopters.

Officials released the names of the passengers listed on the helicopter's flight manifest. They included Lucas Brito Chaves, Lucas Vignale, and pilot Alexandre Souza. The second helicopter was reportedly carrying pilot Charles Marsillac.

Oliver Tree, whose full name was Oliver Tree Nickell, was born in Santa Cruz, California, in 1993. He first gained attention in 2016 after becoming popular on social media. His unique style, including his signature bowl haircut, helped him stand out from other artists.

Over the years, Tree built a large fan base with songs such as Life Goes On, Miss You, and Alien Boy. His music combined elements of pop, alternative, and electronic sounds.

At the time of the crash, Tree had recently started a world tour. His latest performance took place in São Paulo, Brazil, on June 6. He was scheduled to perform in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1 and later had concerts planned in Glasgow, Manchester, and London.

The news of his death led to an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow entertainers.

British YouTuber and musician KSI, who worked with Tree on the song Voices, shared an emotional tribute on social media. He said Tree was too young to die and still had many years of music and creativity ahead of him. KSI described him as a legend and said the loss felt unreal.

Television personality and stunt performer Steve-O also paid tribute. He shared a photo of himself with Tree and said they had become close friends. Steve-O remembered Tree as a caring person who regularly checked in on him and offered support.

Tree's career included several major achievements. In 2024, he received a Brit Award nomination for Miss You, a collaboration with German producer Robin Schulz.

Outside music, Tree was known for his unusual projects and stunts. In 2020, he set a Guinness World Record by building the world's largest kick scooter, measuring more than 13 feet tall and over 10 feet long.

His death marks a tragic loss for the music world and for millions of fans who followed his career.
