INDIA spearhead Jasprit Bumrah produced his career-best bowling figures in the 50-over format at the Oval on Tuesday (12) by picking six wickets for only 19 runs against England in the first match of the three-match series.
The visitors were in firm control from the word go after captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Jos Buttler's side to bat first. Bumrah, whose bowling figures were the third-best for India in the same format after Stuart Binny's six for four and Anil Kumble's 6 for 12, took the first three 'J's of the England batting order -- openers Jason Roy (0) and Jonny Bairstow (7) and Joe Root (0) and returned later to pick Liam Livingstone (0), David Willey (21) and Brydon Carse (15). Mohammed Shami took three wickets for 31 while pacer Prasidh Krishna took one for 26 as India bundled out the Three Lions for a paltry 110 in 25.2 overs.

Bumrah, 28, also became only the third bowler since 2002 to take four wickets inside the first 10 overs for India a ODI. The two others are Javagal Srinath who did the same against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2003 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also took four against the Lankans in Port of Spain in the Caribbeans in 2013.

Twitter was ecstatic over the achievement of Bumrah, who recently led India in a Test match at Edgbaston, where the visitors lost the match despite dominating over the first three days.
