AIR India, owned by India’s Tata Group, last week shared the first look of its latest A350 aircraft from its new livery at a paint shop in Toulouse, France.

The airline, which Tata took over in January 2022, has rebranded itself with a new logo ‘The Vista’ and a fresh red-aubergine-gold look. The Tatas had successfully won the bid for the airline on October 8, 2021.

Air India also said in the same X post where it shared the aircraft’s picture that the new planes are set to touch Indian shores this winter.

In June last year, the Indian carrier had decided to receive its first batch of wide-bodied Airbus 350 planes.

In June this year, Air India firmed up its order to purchase 250 aircraft from Airbus and 220 from Boeing worth $70 billion,

“Happy to share that we have signed purchase agreements with @Airbus and @BoeingAirplanes at Paris Air Show today to add 470 new aircraft to enhance our fleet strength! Air India is committed to playing its part in building New India”, it said in a tweet.

The airline, which was struggling under the government, had not bought a single plane after 2006, when it received 111 aircraft, including 68 from Boeing and 43 from Airbus.

Air India unveiled its latest brand identity two months ago. The iconic ‘Maharaja’, which has been Air India’s mascot for ages, will “live on” and continue to “be part of the airline’s journey into the future”, Air India’s chief executive Campbell Wilson had said.
