Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, Suites and Residences on Thursday (16) hosted the launch of War of Lanka, the latest book by popular author-diplomat Amish Tripathi, in London.
The occasion was part of the hotel’s Rendezvous event series and the evening was hosted by Indian actor Sonam Kapoor. Members of Taj’s own Taj The Chambers private members club were present at the book launch.
Tripathi is one of India’s best-known storytellers and the audience at the event got a first-hand insight into his journey in creative writing, history and experiences. Along with Kapoor, Tripathi divulged their common love for writing, reading and Indian mythology. The duo have been friends for many years now and also associated with The Taj for a long time.
Besides high-profile members of Taj The Chambers, the event also saw the Indian high commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, present as a guest of honour.
The evening witnessed thought-provoking conversation and cocktails and the 250-people strong audience felt empowered and eager to get their hands on Tripathi’s latest book, which is the fourth in his Ram Chandra Series and talks about greed, rage, grief and love that reimagines the Indian epic of Ramayana.
Tripathi, who is also a television documentary host, has authored eight fiction and two non-fiction books and is called India’s JR Tolkien.
