SIDDHARTH Balachandran, an Indian entrepreneur, philanthropist based in the UAE, has contributed AED 10 million to the Mother’s Endowment campaign launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, to honour mothers by setting up an endowment fund worth a billion AED to support education at the global level.

The campaign is organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and reflects the UAE’s efforts to help and empower underprivileged communities and vulnerable people with an aim of creating a better future while focusing on stability and development.

Thanking Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives for giving him an opportunity to make the contribution towards a humanitarian campaign that celebrates generosity of mothers, Balachandran said aiding underprivileged communities across the globe is the best way by which one can express appreciation for mothers.

“Also, being a citizen of India residing in the UAE, it is a chance for me to humbly manifest the benevolence of these two great nations, and contribute to the holistic elevation of world society at large. The Mother’s Endowment campaign is particularly important as millions around the world live difficult lives, where access to education and training isn’t possible. This endowment fund will play a key role in empowering them to improve their reality through education,” he said, according to Emirates24/7.

Coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan which kicked off last week, the Mothers’ Endowment campaign gives contributors an opportunity to make donations in their mothers’ names as a token of appreciation, with the funds used for educational projects that will be implemented through ties with humanitarian organisations.

Last year, Balachandran was announced as the winner of India’s Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in the field of business and community welfare.
