Ramaswamy falls short in Ohio

Ramaswamy, 41, won just over 45 percent of the vote to Acton’s 51 percent, according to NBC News. Acton, 60, becomes the first woman elected governor of Ohio.

“It was a tough race. It was bitter at times in both directions... All of us in this room should be rooting for the success of her administration,” Ramaswamy said in his concession speech, C-SPAN reported.

Ramaswamy, who ran against Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and later helped plan the Department of Government Efficiency, lent his campaign more than $36 million of his own money, The Washington Post reported. He also received millions of dollars from billionaires Elon Musk and Jeffrey Yass.

He drew criticism days before the election for airing an ad in which Acton’s estranged mother called her a liar. Acton said she had not spoken to her mother in nearly 50 years and has accused her mother’s then-husband of sexually abusing her as a child.

Komatireddy concedes

Komatireddy, endorsed by Trump, said she was proud of her campaign.

“Public service means serving people, not celebrity or personal gain. Whatever I do moving forward will be about exactly that – serving others and making New York safer,” she said on X.
