Highlights:
Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has a rather unexpected reaction to the end of Koffee With Karan. While fans might be disappointed that Karan Johar's popular celebrity chat show is approaching its final season, the actress appears to be celebrating the news.
The newly released teaser for Koffee With Karan Season 9 features Kapoor alongside husband, Saif Ali Khan, and their opening exchange with host Karan Johar has already generated plenty of buzz.
When Johar announces that this is the final season of the show, Kapoor does not appear particularly emotional. Instead, she tells him she is "happy and relieved", adding, "We don't have to keep coming on Koffee With Karan".
Clearly amused by her response, Karan fires back, "Thank you for showing your sensitivity towards the last season of the show."
Saif, meanwhile, interrupts the friendly exchange to admit that he feels like a "miscast" on the show.
But is Kareena genuinely relieved that she will no longer have to sit on Karan's famous couch, or is this simply another example of her trademark humour?
Kareena has appeared in all eight previous seasons
Kareena's comment becomes particularly interesting considering her long association with the show. The actress has appeared in every one of the first eight seasons, making her one of its most familiar celebrity guests.
Over the years, she has shared the couch with several Bollywood personalities, including Rani Mukerji, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt.
Her latest appearance will be her ninth season appearance, although this time she will share the spotlight with Saif.
Saif, too, is no stranger to the show. He has appeared in six previous seasons, sharing the couch with guests including Preity Zinta, Soha Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Sara Ali Khan and his mother, Sharmila Tagore.
However, the couple's joint appearances have been considerably rarer.
Saif and Kareena reunite after 16 years
The upcoming episode marks only the second time Saif and Kareena have appeared together on Koffee With Karan.
Their first joint appearance was in Season 3 in 2010, when they were dating. They married in 2012, making their latest reunion particularly special as they return to the couch as a married couple.
Interestingly, the two recently appeared together on The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5, where their playful exchanges also caught viewers' attention.
Saif steals the spotlight on Kapil Sharma's show
The couple's October appearance on Kapil Sharma's show gave audiences a glimpse of their relationship beyond the usual celebrity interviews.
One of the biggest talking points was Saif's obsession with the two-year supply of ghee he was promised after appearing on Kaun Banega Crorepati with Akshay Kumar.
Saif revealed that neither the ghee nor his prize cheque had arrived, leaving Kareena and the audience laughing.
His comment about their bedroom smelling like a dhaba because Kareena uses ghee on her feet also became a talking point.
Social media users joined in, with comments including "Somebody get him his ghee" and "Saif needs to have his own show". Others praised his spontaneous humour, while Kapoor and Kapil also exchanged affectionate messages on Instagram after the episode.
Kareena called Kapil an "absolute star", while the comedian thanked the couple for making the episode so much fun.
Koffee With Karan prepares for its final brew
Karan Johar announced on September 30 that Season 9 would be the show's final instalment, bringing an end to a 22-year association that began in 2004.
Reflecting on the show's journey, Karan recalled how his father, producer Yash Johar, had questioned the idea when it was first proposed, asking, 'Who will pay to see you talk to your friends?'
The show eventually became a major part of Bollywood's celebrity culture, known for its candid conversations, rapid-fire rounds, controversial revelations and memorable celebrity pairings.
With Kareena and Saif returning together after 16 years, the final season is giving fans another opportunity to see the couple's chemistry.
And if the teaser is anything to go by, Kapoor may be relieved about the show's ending, but she certainly has not run out of things to say to Karan!
