Kriti Sanon to lead Maddock’s first-ever out-and-out horror film, report says

Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon is reportedly preparing to enter a new phase of her career, with the actor set to headline a large-scale horror film backed by Maddock Films. The untitled project will mark her ninth collaboration with the production house and her second solo lead with the banner after Mimi.

According to a report by IANS, the upcoming film will be an out-and-out horror project, moving away from the horror-comedy format associated with Maddock’s popular supernatural films. The makers are reportedly planning to mount the project on a grand scale, although details about its title, storyline and other cast members remain under wraps.

“After receiving praise for her performances in Cocktail 2 and Tere Ishk Mein, Kriti Sanon has finally locked her next project. She has always been keen to explore different genres, and this time, she is stepping into the world of pure horror with a large-scale film produced by Maddock, which she will be headlining,” a source was quoted as saying.

Kriti Sanon to Reunite With Maddock Films

The reported project will extend Kriti’s long-standing association with Maddock Films. Their collaborations include Raabta, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Mimi and Bhediya, among other projects.

Her next film would also mark her second solo lead with the production house after Mimi, the 2021 drama that earned her widespread acclaim and a National Film Award for Best Actress.

Maddock Films has established a strong presence in the horror-comedy genre through titles such as Stree, Bhediya and Munjya. However, the reported project with Kriti is expected to take a different approach by focusing on pure horror rather than blending supernatural elements with comedy.

“Maddock has been on a winning streak, and this will be her ninth collaboration with the production house and her second solo lead with them after Mimi, for which she won a National Award. Unlike Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, this film will be an out-and-out horror film, a space the production house is exploring for the first time. The makers are looking to mount it on a grand scale, and while details are currently under wraps, it’s an exciting project to look forward to,” the source added.

Kriti Sanon’s Recent Work

Kriti was last seen in Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. She has also been associated with Tere Ishk Mein, adding to a filmography that spans romance, comedy, drama and action.

While the makers have yet to announce the horror film officially or reveal further details, the reported project could offer Kriti an opportunity to explore a darker genre and headline a large-scale horror production.
