India have emerged as the top team in Tests in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) latest rankings after hammering Australia in the recently concluded first Test in Nagpur.
The win saw Rohit Sharma's men reaching 115 ratings, four more than second-placed Australia. England were ranked third with 106 points but will have a chance to better their standing in their Test series starting against New Zealand (at No.4 with 100 ratings) on Thursday (16). South Africa are ranked No.5 with 85 ratings.
The top rank in Test means India are now the table toppers in all three formats, including one-day international and T20 besides Test.
In the 50-over format, India have 114 ratings, two more than Australia who they will play in a three-match series at home in March. New Zealand and England have 111 ratings each although the Black Caps have less number of matches. Pakistan are at No.5 with 106 points.
In the 20-over format, India were leading the list with 267 ratings, just one more than reigning world champions England. Pakistan, runners-up of the last T20 World Cup, were ranked third with 258 ratings, followed by South Africa (256) and New Zealand (252).
