Jordan Brand has officially introduced the Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Better With Time”, marking the professional BMX rider’s first signature collaboration with the brand. The design and campaign focus on storytelling through wear, reflecting Sylvester’s journey from Queens to global recognition in both street culture and sport.
The collaboration places emphasis on sneakers as symbols of experience, not just fashion. With deliberate scuffs, faded areas, and patchwork-style details, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Better With Time” celebrates the notion that well-worn trainers tell the best stories.
A trainer designed for movement, not perfection
The Air Jordan 1 Low OG, long favoured by skaters and riders, forms the base for Sylvester’s reinterpretation. The trainer features a black leather upper with pre-distressed finishes. A small gold Swoosh appears near the forefoot, while a larger cream Swoosh adorns the side panels.
Additional design elements include:
- Mismatched laces: cream on one side, red on the other
- Aged midsole paired with a bold red outsole
- Tongue tag reading “BIKE Air” – a direct nod to Sylvester’s BMX roots
- Subtle square patches resembling repair work, reinforcing the used-and-reused theme
These visual cues intentionally reflect wear and functionality — a connection to Sylvester’s life in motion and the BMX lifestyle.
Campaign rooted in New York street culture
The launch campaign is backed by a soundtrack from A$AP Ferg, reinforcing the sneaker’s New York DNA. Both Ferg and Nigel Sylvester share deep ties to the city and its intersection of music, fashion, and sport. Rather than simply showcasing the shoe, the campaign video centres on what the shoe represents: constant movement, authenticity, and purpose.
Sylvester, who has spent years bridging BMX culture with streetwear and footwear, now has a release that encapsulates his personal and professional story.
Release date and pricing
Nigel Sylvester has confirmed that the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Better With Time” will release on 16 August 2025. The retail price is set at $165.
As Sylvester's first official Jordan Brand collaboration, the release is expected to draw significant interest from fans of BMX, streetwear, and sneaker culture alike.
