Nintendo is giving The Legend of Zelda a major anniversary celebration with a special-edition Switch 2 and matching Pro Controller.
The company officially revealed the new hardware during its Zelda-focused Nintendo Direct on September 8, confirming product images that had previously surfaced online. The special editions will launch on October 29.
A Switch 2 built for Zelda fans
The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 features a golden Triforce design across one side of the dock, giving the console a distinctly Zelda-inspired look.
The Switch 2 itself comes with black-and-teal Joy-Con controllers, with each controller featuring its own Triforce pattern. The hardware also carries the Zelda 40th Anniversary branding, complete with a small NES-era Link icon.
The Pro Controller gets the same treatment
Nintendo is also releasing a matching The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Pro Controller.
The controller follows the same black-and-teal color scheme, while a golden Triforce sits prominently in the center. Gold shoulder buttons and triggers complete the anniversary design.
Both pieces of hardware are aimed squarely at longtime Zelda fans, combining Nintendo’s latest console with visual callbacks to one of gaming’s most recognizable franchises.
When can fans get it?
The special-edition Switch 2 and Pro Controller are scheduled to launch on October 29, giving Zelda fans a new way to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
For longtime players and collectors, the combination of the Triforce design, retro Link imagery and anniversary branding makes this more than a standard console refresh.
