Pakistan prime minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday (10) indirectly mocked India after they lost to England by 10 wickets in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide, Australia.

In a tweet, Sharif referred to Pakistan as 152/0 and England as 170/0, referring to the one-sided victories they registered over India in the T20 World Cups of 2021 and 2022.

“So, this Sunday, it’s, 152/0 vs 170/0,” Sharif said in a tweet.

Last year, India lost to arch-rivals by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup held in Dubai, UAE, after setting them a target of 152. The loss proved costly for the Men in Blue as they could not make the semi-finals.

On Thursday, India faced a similar defeat against England after scoring 168 for 6 in 20 overs. While Pakistan captain Babar Azam and wicket-keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan hammered India in the 2021 World Cup, it was England captain Jos Buttler and Alex Hales who did the same in 2022.

Pakistan made a remarkable comeback in this year’s World Cup by defeating New Zealand by seven wickets in the first semi-final in Sydney on Wednesday (9).

For Sharif, it was not the first time during this year’s T20 World Cup that he tweeted something in connection with cricket. He had posted about the “Pak Mr Bean” issue that went viral after Pakistan suffered a one-run loss against Zimbabwe in the group stage. Sharif responded to Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa after the latter took a jibe at the South Asian nation over the win and the “fake” Mr Bean travelling to the southern African country.

With Thursday’s loss, India became the first team to suffer 10-wicket defeats in T20 World Cups more than once.
