Ganesh Chaturthi is usually a time for prayers, celebrations and seeking Lord Ganesha's blessings. This year, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are marking the festival with commitments that go beyond the usual celebrations.
Ranveer visited Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja pandal on Thursday night to offer his prayers. Dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, the actor greeted fans before stopping to speak to Network18 about his visit and his hopes for the year ahead.
Ranveer Singh makes a meaningful pledge
Ranveer said he had come to thank Bappa for what he described as a happy year for himself and his family.
"It's great to be here," he said. "The past year has been filled with happiness for me and my family, thanks to Bappa's blessings. I came here, had his darshan, and thanked him."
The actor said he also sought blessings for the journey ahead. He then revealed that he had decided to join the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, making a commitment focused on girls' education.
"I pledge to join the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and help 1,000 girls with their education," Ranveer said. "I hope this will please Bappa, and his blessings will always be with us."
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt join the effort
Ranveer is reportedly among several film personalities taking part in the initiative.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are also reportedly making commitments as part of the effort, with the couple set to support the refurbishment of 20 schools in India.
The reported pledges put education and school infrastructure at the center of the stars' contribution this Ganesh Chaturthi.
What's next for the stars
Ranveer has Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta, coming up after the success of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He is also preparing to welcome his second child with wife Deepika Padukone.
Ranbir has several major projects ahead, including Ramayana, which is gearing up for release this Diwali, and Ramayana: Part II, scheduled for Diwali 2027. He also stars alongside Alia in Love and War, which is awaiting release.
While their film careers remain busy, this year's Ganesh Chaturthi has given Ranveer, Ranbir and Alia another reason to celebrate, with their reported commitments putting the spotlight on education and giving back.
