FOR Geert Wilders, there is no stopping at the moment. The minister of parliament from the Netherlands, who came out in support of suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad, has continued tweeting in favour of the Indian and remained unfazed despite death threats from Islamists.

After backing Sharma in a tweet on Sunday (12) saying “her reaction to someone demeaning Hindu Gods was totally justified”, the right-wing Party for Freedom leader made another post on the social media platform on Tuesday (14) in which he explained why he respects Hinduism “a million times more than Islam”.

In his tweet, Wilders said, “Cultural relativism is a misleading concept. People are equal but cultures are not. A culture based on humanity and freedom is always better than a culture based on intolerance and submission. Therefore I respect Hinduism a million times more than Islam.”

In another tweet on Sunday, Wilders said, “The police registered a FIR on charges of hurting religious feelings, promoting enmity and causing public mischief against Sharma.”

“This is outrageous. She did nothing wrong. If I can help her in any possible way, I will.”

He also lauded the Hindus of India’s neighbouring state of Nepal, known to be the world’s only Hindu state, for bringing out marches backing Sharma.
“Nepal. Massive Hindu support for #NupurSharma. Fantastic!” he said.
