The 61st International Art Exhibition, also known as the Venice Biennale 2026, has once again turned Venice into the center of the global art world. This year’s edition is titled In Minor Keys and has been curated by the late Koyo Kouoh. The exhibition runs from May 9 to November 22, 2026, across Venice’s Giardini and Arsenale venues.

More than 100 national pavilions and 110 artists are participating this year. The exhibition explores themes of intimacy, healing, resistance, memory, and belonging. One of the major highlights of this edition is the increased representation of African artists and cultural voices. The Biennale also includes a large-scale performance program focused on the body as a symbol of memory and transformation.

India made a major comeback this year with the return of the India Pavilion. The pavilion is supported by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. The return marks an important cultural moment for India on the global art stage.

At the inauguration ceremony, Nita Ambani drew attention in a custom chiffon-georgette saree designed by Anamika Khanna. The saree featured dual shades of blush pink and powder blue, creating a soft and elegant look suited for the Venice setting.

She paired the saree with a lace blouse featuring Banarasi-inspired embroidery, floral thread work, and sequinned detailing. She also carried a handwoven Butidar Sozni shawl by Swadesh, reflecting her support for Indian artisans and textile traditions.

Her jewelry choices also became a major talking point. She wore statement earrings by Wallace Chan, crafted using rosewood and titanium with sapphires and rubies. The earrings symbolized compassion, spirituality, and artistic innovation. She completed the look with ruby and diamond bangles and a cocktail ring featuring pink diamonds.

Her makeup remained simple with glossy pink lips, highlighted cheeks, winged eyeliner, and loose blowout waves.

The India Pavilion was inaugurated alongside senior dignitaries, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Curated by Dr. Amin Jaffer, the exhibition explores ideas of home, transition, and cultural memory. Members of the Ambani family, including Isha Ambani, also attended the opening ceremony.
